THE LEGACY OF CRISTOBAL BALENCIAGA
In 1951, the Spanish designer created a new silhouette, extending the shoulders and removing the waist. He continued to innovate with forms that the world had never seen before, creating clothes such as the tunic and the kimono coat. His original Balenciaga couture creations are still considered masterpieces, particularly the sculptural pieces produced during the 50s and 60s. Cristóbal Balenciaga died in 1972, but his legacy and firmly established design codes live in the house as we know it and we love today.
